The Camel Festival in Bikaner is a vibrant and unique cultural event celebrated every year in January, showcasing the deep bond between the desert city and its “ship of the desert,” the camel. Held over two days near Junagarh Fort, the festival features beautifully decorated camels participating in parades, camel races, and fun competitions like camel dancing, fur cutting, and tug-of-war. Folk music and traditional Rajasthani dance performances add color and energy to the celebrations, while local food stalls and handicraft exhibitions give visitors a taste of Bikaner’s rich heritage. The festival concludes with mesmerizing fireworks and cultural programs, making it one of the most iconic and memorable events of Rajasthan.

Held annually by Rajasthan Tourism, this festival celebrates the “ship of the desert” with camel races, milking, acrobatics, and, most notably, intricately decorated camels with fur-cutting designs. The 2026 festival, scheduled around early January (e.g., Jan 9-11), features traditional folk dances, fire dancers, and a Bikaneri food festival.
