Built in the 15th century by Bhandasa Oswal, a wealthy Jain merchant, the temple is dedicated to the 5th Tirthankara, Sumatinath Ji. Made primarily of red sandstone, the temple is also known for the unique belief that ghee was used instead of water in its foundation, giving it a special place in Bikaner’s heritage and architecture.
